Pielarks folk choir and band

Pielarks is a small community choir that meets in North Kingston every Monday, from 10 am to 12 noon (with a break for refreshments), to sing traditional folk songs in harmony. From time to time, we venture out and perform in public. Some of us also play musical instruments, and we usually have an hour-long session of traditional folk tunes after the singing.

The repertoire

We sing mostly traditional folk songs, mostly in English, from throughout the English-speaking world. We sing rousing shanties and maritime songs, pastoral songs about milkmaids and shepherds, wassails, drinking songs, and songs of toil and trouble. Some of our songs are not traditional, in the sense that they have a known composer, but they're all pretty old and long out of copyright. Occasionally, we rise to the challenge of singing songs not in English.
